Hello my friends!
I’ve been drunk for about 2 weeks celebrating my 21st birthday whilst wading through my mid-term assessments. But I’m back! Look forward to catching up with all your delightful posts.
Please hop over to my good pal Stef at Dodging Commas to check out my guest post, all about how writers find inspiration. It is called Swimming in a Language Sea, taken from a favourite Jack Kerouac quote of mine. Here’s a brief excerpt:
Writers are the thieves of moments that burrow into the soft under-brain and gel together with the words that give them life. They are the thieves of faces in the town square, that elderly gentleman’s bulbous nose, threaded with blue veins, or that young mother’s startlingly gruff voice…
They are the thieves of the fish and the words that swim in the language of sea.
Also, last night I made a brief appearance on a television show here in Australia on ABC called “Q and A.”
Members of the live audience can submit questions to a panel, usually comprised of prominent Australian politicians, thinkers, academics and celebrities, who answer questions about current affairs. They get an audience of about 1 million per week. I’ve been on the show four times, but finally last night got a cameo!
You can follow this link http://www.abc.net.au/tv/qanda/txt/s3492211.htm and skip to the video to 17.30 minutes in to see me ask my question. Hardy har har. My boyfriend is sitting next to me…isn’t he handsome?!
I hope to cook up some poetry for you in the next few days. Until then!
